Pure parable understanding of Luke 16:19-31 does not by definition erode elements based in fact from the analogous lesson. As W.E. Vine writes concerning 'parable', "Such a narrative or saying, dealing with earthly things with a spiritual meaning, is distinct from a fable, which attributes to things what does not belong to them in nature."
